I did leave a comment and yeah I thought the same as you Nat, that it had the beginnings of a good story but was far too short and underdeveloped. I gave it a 2 which I thought was quite good considering. Do you know what? Im thinking that its a joke too. That someone sent it in as a laugh. I just dont get it, and its beyond me why you didnt come in the top 5 Nat. Your Santa story was great and Paul's was good too. Baffled really but there you go. Next year maybe. Think your idea about holding our own comp is a good one. Of course Id be top everytime.  |

Try the Dark Tales contest. It's 3.00 to enter but the 1st prize is 500. Does make me wonder whether they bothered reading half the entries.Wouldn't be so bad if I hadn't read your stories, which, in my opinion, were certainly better than 2nd to 5th. And a lot better than 3rd!

Yeah, im going to try something different next year for sure. Paul, ive often thought that as well, that they dont bother reading some of them. This is not sour grapes; I just dont really get some of the entries, although Niall's is very good as always.

Yeah, very puzzling; just goes to show how different everyones tastes are and how you can write a damn good story and it doesnt really matter. I was convinced that you would be in the top 5 Nat and also Paul too. I knew that Niall would figure somewhere!

Make sure you sub your stories elsewhere, don't just let em sit on your hard drive. Necrotic Tissue opens for subs in Jan.

Im definitely gonna do that. Its one of my NY resolutions as Im a bit lazy and often stick to the same site so I am going to spread out a little. Thanks for the different sites; will make a not of them.

Originally, I intended Stasis to be a novel but it refused to be drawn out so I abridged it and was pleased with how it turned out. But what you said has my brain turning over now: write it as a screenplay... interesting idea. Not sure if I'd be able to carry it off but might be fun to try.

Another thing it reminded me of as well as Sophie's choice and THE JAUNT was a film I saw a few weeks back called Pandorum with Dennis Quaid. Kinda similar idea, but different monsters...
